INTRODUCTION
The automobile industry is one of the oldest and biggest industries in the world. Its development and process is quantity and the quality is also equal to the highest compared with other industries.
Addition of 1.3 crore of automobiles on the world wide runs during the 2011 can give an idea about the economical growth and its hunger.
Around 30 lakhs automobiles are manufactured in India every year.
The transportation has become unavoidable for the social and economic development.
The good transported with the help of the ship in water, with the help of aeroplanes in air and with the help of railways and automobiles on the roadways.
The automobile have the specific advantage to transport the required point to the required whereas the other transportation system move the goods and people from place to place and share of automobile’stransport is 70 to75%.
In addition to above there is a world wide range of automobiles(1 kW to 150 kW power range) which is prepared by the using I.C.Engine as a prime mover. The two wheelers,scooter and motorcycle are used by individuals,four wheelers-cars and jeep are used as family vehicles, buses are used for transporting the people, trucks are used to carrying goods, tractor are used to field vehicles, bulldozers are used in a building construction for many and for many other purposes.
INDIAN AUTOMOBILE DEVELOPMENT
The cars arrived in India only in 1900 were used by British and State kings. These were imported in pre–independent India. It was only in 1946, Hindustan Motors was established at Calcutta and then following by PremierAutomobiles.ThenMahindra and Mahindra entered in this field in 1949 to manufacture jeeps at Mumbai and Standard Motors established at Madras in 1950. Tata, the industrial giant entered in the field in 1954 and established at Jamshedpur to manufacture commercial vehicles.
The automobile manufacturing started in India with foreign collaborations only.
The production was much less than the demand and waiting period was 5 to 10 years. Maruti Udhyog Limited established in 1982 in collaboration with Suzuki of Japan to manufacture small cars which helped to produce large number of small cars.
Presently, Automobile Industry is most developed and major industry in India.

AUTOMOBILE AND ITS DIFFERENT TYPES
• Definition : An Automobile is a self–propelled vehicle which contains the power source for its propulsion and is used for carrying passengers and goods on the ground such as car, bus, trucks, etc.
CONSTRUCTION AND COMPONENTS
Frame or Chassis : This is the basic component on which the all required components are mounted and the body (superstructure) is superimposed. It is a rigid structure which forms a skeleton to hold all major parts together.
